John Laing started life in 1831, knitting ultrafine underwear in virgin wool, fully fashioned for a perfect fit. During the two world wars, we went on to produce knitwear for the British army.
In the 1950s and 1960s, life got more glamorous and we finally stepped into the limelight, producing iconic fashions for international luxury fashion houses, including Dior, Calvin Klein and Lanvin.
Fast forward to the present, and we're now firmly positioned as a top Scottish knitwear brand, known for contemporary classics with a couture twist and a wonderful way with colour.
Cashmere is in our DNA, with whole families here in Hawick steeped in the traditional skills and outstanding workmanship this fine, soft fibre demands.
Our knitwear can be found in prestigious stores all over the world, from Japan and the Far East to Europe and the United States of America.
